5- Is critically aware of own communicative habits and willing to change, if necessary (e.g. be punctual to online meetings, do not interrupt, non abusive use of irony, etc.)



 Sometimes when you have to work in group you have to adapt yourself to the others despite not agreeing to some points. I felt strange while I was talking to the participants because I was not acting as I am. I don’t like being controlled by somebody who decides when my turn to speak is. I have to admit that at first time I felt selfish. Then, I accepted that working through a virtual tool sometimes could be difficult and I changed my mind by accepting the rules. One alternative thing I did to solve my problem was making some notes in a sheet in order not to forget my ideas. However, I have to say that my group was very punctual to online meetings, they were very tolerant with our opinions and the leader did a great effort organising the speaking order.

4- Finds cross-cultural misunderstanding as opportunities for learning.


 Learning about other views and forms of communication that are affected by cultural context is interesting to me, because it allows us to understand other points of view which perhaps do not come naturally to us. We communicate primarily by using words, but there are also some traits that differ depending on cultural context, such as body language. For example, Catalan people are typically expressive communicators: we frequently use our hands and vary the volume of our speaking and it seems that we are very enthusiastic about the topics of the conversation. The Chinese girl, on the other hand, was inexpressive. This girl could seem that she was not interested in what we were talking, but at the end, I realised that she was listening carefully because she provided new and interesting ideas.

3- Does not attribute miscommunication directly to socio-cultural differences.



 As we had previously shared our introductory videos, in our first meeting we were already familiar with most participants in the group: I already knew three of the five group members. Consequently, participants were less shy and more communicative. However, one Chinese participant was particularly timid. During all of our presentations, she did not say a great deal, but when she did say something, her observations were often thoughtful. Personally, I appreciated this because I believe that it is better to think carefully before speaking, rather than expressing the first thought that comes to one´s head. However, I don’t want to generalise because there are over one billion people living in China!

2- Shows interest to exploring own and online partners' cultural context(s) as part of the online exchange.



 The first time we met, we were able to talk about our cultural context because we had previously shared our introductory videos. This allowed us to talk about our personal lives and contexts in the first meeting. One of the things that surprised me the most about the group was that the Illinois’ partners were not actually from the United States: one participant was from Russia, and the other was from Taiwan. They both had a good level of English. Another interesting aspect of intercultural information exchange is that it is difficult to predict participants´ reactions to conversation topics. For example, the Russian participant was a strict organiser but also took great interest in all participants´ views. At first, this enthusiasm surprised me, because this character trait was not shared by participants in other projects I had previously worked on.

1- Respects rhythms of interactions when different from one's own style (e.g. do not get upset if replies do not come as soon as expected and do not wait until the very last minute to reply, etc.).



 I believe that I have acquired this social competence because since starting the group telecollaborations, I have respected the others’ opinions. At the beginning, the meetings were a little disorganised, perhaps because we didn’t know each other and it was the first time we had taken part in a project which utilised tools that allowed us to view and speak with each other online. We had some initial difficulties when discussing the activity, but thanks to the leader of our group (who organised the speaking order of the participants); we all had the opportunity to talk in later meetings.

Mètodes de visualització ràpida

Com veiem, hem fet una prova amb el text del projecte 1x1

Explicació del programa:
Wordle és una aplicació en línia gratuïta que serveix per generar Núvols de paraules a les quals se'ls pot donar diversos formats visuals, a partir d'un text qualsevol triat per l'usuari. Una eina senzilla i motivadora per la qual docents de tot el planeta han ideat nombroses activitats d'aula.

En aquesta ocasió no cal que ens registrem, simplement hem d'accedir a wordle i prémer directament en Create (Crear); d'aquesta manera accedim a una pàgina en la qual ens ofereixen diverses possibilitats de generar el núvol de paraules.


Entre les seves característiques mereix la pena ressaltar:
■ L'aplicació s'encarrega d'eliminar xifres, signes de puntuació i paraules massa usuals com a articles i preposicions.
■ Els núvols donen major prominència a les paraules que apareixen amb més freqüència en el text d'origen.
■ Pots variar el tipus de lletra, els colors i la disposició de les paraules.
■ No podem guardar la imatge directament però ja veurem com això pot ser fàcilment solucionat.
Què fer amb el nostre núvol una vegada generada? Tenim diverses possibilitats entre les quals podem:

■ Imprimir-la. Capturar la imatge amb una utilitat o programa gratuït com *Jing al que en el seu moment dediquem un article en Educ@contic.
■ Obtenir-la en format PDF.
■ Inserir-la en el nostre blog o web per a això ens proporcionen el codi necessari.
■ Guardar-la en la Galeria Wordle per compartir-la amb tots els Internautes com ocorre en tota aplicació 2.0.
